My name is Balpreet Kaur, I am a recent graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University where I gained a 2:1 BSc (Hons) in International Consumer Marketing.
The degree covered a range of areas such as; consumer behaviour, e-marketing, finance, new product development and global retailing to name a few. During this time I was able to become a well-organised and motivated problem solver, with the ability to use initiative when needed by either working as an individual or in a team.
Over the years I have been fortunate enough to experience a plethora of employment roles some being within the marketing and business development sectors. These included, recreating the brand and improving the business outlook at bow’s boutique; project managing a business refurbishment, and remerchandising at the post office; to finally planning and implementing all areas of the marketing mix for CDSN Fitness. The highlight of these opportunities was that I got to work with real businesses, helping to improve on their weaknesses, by putting theory into practice. One area I feel I have improved on is my overall confidence in the field; liaising with internal and external stakeholders both face to face and over the phone, pushed my comfort zone. Whilst at first feeling under pressure, the sense of urgency to think on my feet got my creative juices flowing.
I am proud of my decision to leave the comfort zone of the UK by completing voluntary work in Costa Rica. I fine-tuned my interpersonal skills with the challenges that arose from communicating in a cross-culture environment, and being able to adapt towards the diverse lifestyle.
After years of study and working in different environments I am now in a position to settle into the career of my choice. I am both eager and enthusiastic to join a company that would give me the opportunity to bring a fresh outlook and allow me to utilise the skills and knowledge I have acquired so far.
